Metered Internet: Liberals slam CRTC on usage-based billing...

Canada’s official opposition party now stands firmly against usage-based billing (UBB) for Internet service.

Less than one day after Tony Clement, federal ministry of industry, said the Conservative Party-led government would ‘study’ the new pricing regime, the Liberal Party of Canada went so far as to condemn the ruling on Tuesday morning. The condemnation is in response to the CRTC, Canada’s national telecom regulator, releasing a decision last week allowing large Canadian Internet service providers (ISPs) to charge smaller providers based on the amount of data they transfer across their networks each month.
