Paramour...for love of good food and LeVack Block... for fun!

I had dinner in the west end the other night and I fell in love! Paramour 94 Ossington Ave (at Humbert)...Tel: 416-953-2356.

Adam Baguley, owner of LeVack Block next door where we had a drink after dinner, and his sister Amber Honor Elson are owners of Paramour and they've obviously put a lot of love in this endeavour. This bistro type restaurant is small and infused with a warm and inviting atmosphere and the banquettes all around the restaurant with the beautiful Moroccan style cushions whispers Arabian Nights while a couple are having an intimate conversation and a small group are celebrating. We were greated with smiles and the excellent service kept us smiling too. A great atmosphere, cool surroundings and great service... but what about the food?

Sublime! I had the BLT Salad (exquisite) and the Pan Seared Halibut was incredible..cooked just right and served on a Cauliflower Purée. I thought I was eating the creamiest mashed potatoes and then someone said it was cauliflower (I hate cauliflower but I will have it here anytime). My dinner companion had the Roasted Corn & Jalapeno Hush Puppies which he raved about long after eating them and the Steak Frites which he loved.

We had a lovely dinner and then headed over to LeVack Block on the corner at 88 Ossington for a drink. The vintage bar with exposed brick wall and an old banker's wrought iron cage is über cool! This is a casual and friendly neighbourhood bar, but hold on to your hats...later the cavernous back room club (reminiscent of the Viper Room) turns-up the volume to a delirious party atmosphere complete with top line DJs and dancing (ok I'm too old for this)!

Hold on, Adam is not through with this venture. A very cool private party room on the 2nd floor will open in time for holiday parties, special events and corporate functions. He took me for a tour and it's night & day from the downstairs bar & club. He's got one seriously beautiful venue up there. His sister Amber had a hand in the design, she's not only a restaurateur but also a great designer. The long silk curtains hanging from the 14ft ceilings fall onto the gleaming hardwood floors, together with the crystal chandeliers and retro bar create a look of subtle chic!

And in the spring, LeVack Block is sure to be the “in” patio in TO with one of the largest roof top patios in the city and one of the best views of Toronto’s cityscape! I’ll be sure to visit in the spring and tell you more.

I had a lovely evening and I invite you to experience Paramour (don't forget to reserve) and LeVack Block (drop in early & enjoy)!
