Following the success of last year’s inaugural Music at Mount Pleasant summer concert series, Mount Pleasant Cemetery’s 205 acres of tranquil beauty is once again the backdrop for free concerts every Sunday afternoon from July 4th to September 5th.
The one-hour concerts begin at 2:00 p.m., rain or shine. Each weekend student performers from The Royal Conservatory, Canada’s foremost classical music training ground will perform classical and favourite pieces.
The Concerts are held in the garden beside the conservatory – east off Mount Pleasant Road. For concert details and map visit http://friends.mountpleasantgroup.com or http://www.mountpleasantgroup.com
or call Mount Pleasant at 416-485-9129. Limited seating, please bring your own chairs or blankets. Please contact Nathan Johnson and Mount Pleasant Cemetery for more information.
One of Canada's most historic cemeteries, Mount Pleasant has served the Toronto community since 1876. It is the final resting place of many prominent Canadians, as varied as former prime minister William Lyon Mackenzie King, Jennie Smillie-Robinson, Canada's first female surgeon, and pianist Glenn Gould.
