What's Open & Closed Victoria Day Monday?

It's the first long weekend since Good Friday and the unofficial start of summer!

Victoria Day Monday - Closed

Under the law, Victoria Day is a legal stat and stores are supposed to be closed.

•Malls,
•Most grocery stores and supermarkets,
•L.C.B.O./Beer stores,
•Government offices,
•Banks,
•Libraries,
•Schools,
•No mail delivery,
•T.T.C. and GO on holiday schedule.

Victoria Day Monday - Open

Yonge St. is a designated tourist area, and businesses there are allowed to open on a stat. So if you want to do any shopping in the city, you'll have to head downtown. The area runs from Richmond St. north to Grosvenor and from Bay to just east of Yonge, and includes the Eaton Centre - which will be open from 10am-6pm.

The Vaughan Mills Shopping Centre is also open on Monday. You can shop till they stop from 10am-7pm.

And the Pacific Mall at 4300 Steeles Ave. E. in Markham will welcome shoppers on Monday. It's one of the few places open all year round, including Christmas.

Supermarket Garden Centres
Victoria Day is also the unofficial start of the gardening season. Some garden stores stay open during the holiday, but check with the one nearest you to be sure.

Metro
Most stores in what used to be called Dominion are closed but there are a few exceptions. The outlet in the Parkways Plaza at Ellesmere and Victoria Park, for example, is supposed to be open on Monday along with its garden centre.

Loblaws
All stores closed for the holiday.

Sobeys
A few scattered stores may be open. Check to see if the one you go to is on that list.

Wal-Mart
Any outlets with garden centres will be open on the holiday Monday, but the stores will remain closed.

Home Depot
All their stores will be shut down for the day, but gardening centres throughout most of the GTA will be in full bloom from 7am-5pm.
